Water play is one of the indispensable outdoor activities for children during the summer vacation. Whether going swimming in the pool or playing in a water park, it's essential to buy children's swimsuits. At present, there is a wide variety of children's swimsuits on the market, and parents need to strictly control them and cannot buy them casually based on their appearance.

Common quality issues with children's swimsuits:

1. Rope straps are not qualified

Unqualified rope straps for infant and toddler swimsuits refer to non-standard designs of straps such as shoulder straps, shoulder straps, and skirt straps.

Long ropes are prone to entanglement, being caught or hooked by moving objects, stumbling, strangulation, and other situations, which can entangle the neck of infants and young children and cause them to suffocate and die. In addition, some elastic ropes can easily hit the face and eyes after being stretched, causing harm to infants and children.

2. Unqualified color fastness

The color fastness of children's swimsuits refers to the resistance of the color of the swimsuit to various effects during processing and use.

Unqualified color fastness of children's swimsuits can lead to color detachment and fading on the fabric during use, affecting the appearance and performance of the product. Dye molecules and heavy metal ions may also be absorbed by the human body through the skin and mouth, posing a health hazard.

3. Excessive formaldehyde content

The excessive formaldehyde content in children's swimsuits is mainly due to the use of dyeing aids in the swimsuit printing and dyeing process, which contain high levels of formaldehyde. These swimsuits will gradually release free formaldehyde during people's wearing and use.

Excessive formaldehyde in swimsuits can cause strong irritation to children's respiratory tract and skin mucosa, causing respiratory system damage and triggering various inflammations. Skin contact with formaldehyde can cause sensitization, rash, and other reactions. The toxicity of formaldehyde to infants is manifested in asthma, bronchitis, chromosomal abnormalities, and decreased immunity.

How to choose a good swimsuit for kids?

1. Swimsuit material

The material of children's swimsuits is the best combination of "nylon + spandex", followed by the combination of "polyester + spandex". The characteristics of spandex swimwear are bright colors, comfortable to wear, fast draining, easy to wash and dry, especially with low sports resistance.

The content of spandex is an important indicator for evaluating the quality of swimsuits. The spandex content in swimsuits should be between 15% and 20%.

2. Stretch elasticity

The stretching elasticity of swimsuits, also known as "Le Butler". Swimsuits that are too tight, too loose, and have a strong sense of pressure are not suitable. According to the regulations of knitted swimwear, the transverse tensile elastic elongation of qualified swimwear should be ≥ 70%, while the tensile elastic recovery rate of chlorinated water (pool water) should be ≥ 60%.

3. Sewing quality

Pay attention to checking the sewing quality, and choose swimsuits with wider stitching (edge width with stitching). Generally, it is advisable to have a stitching of about 3mm. Check if there are any defects, color differences, or stains on the surface of the fabric, and if the sewing trajectory is straight and smooth. Check the firmness of swimsuits with buckles, straps, and lanyards. It is not advisable to choose styles with multiple splices.

When choosing children's swimsuits, we should also pay attention to these things

1. Check if there is an inner lining

It is best to have a lining for children's swimsuits, especially for the crotch, to protect the delicate skin of children. The lining material should be pure cotton.

2. Choose the right swimsuit color

Try not to choose blue and white swimsuits, as the pool environment can easily blend with blue and dark swimsuits. We should choose bright colors, such as yellow, orange, red, etc.

3. Decorations should be safe

Swimsuits with straps, especially those with straps around the head and neck, may pose a risk of strangulation and suffocation; Sharp zippers can easily scratch the skin, so it's best to have a fabric protective layer; the sequins on swimsuits are prone to detachment and ingestion, and the material composition is unknown. It is best not to choose children's swimsuits with sequins.
